Convinced my fellow front-end colleague in the new project we're setting up, that we can have a headless UI library, and an accessible one at that. Whoopeeeeee, FINALLY I am spending work hours writing CSS!!! ✨🤩🎉 Have chosen to use Adobe React Aria Components for the gnarlier UI challenges. Happy!

hi, here is a picture of my dog:

The real social divide between Gen z and millennials is that Gen z is always wearing a cute fit to the concert and millennials are wearing the rattiest black t-shirt and jeans they can find

GENIE: So, and I really never do this, but I just want to clarify: you want to use your three wishes to make sure you never have to wash a colander, cheese grater, or a whisk for the rest of your life. ME: That’s correct.

I guess I'm saying, make the thing because you want to make the thing, and be prepared for a total non-response. Then pick yourself up and move onto the next project. Maybe that will be the one that sets the world alight.

Switching my main platform here from Twitter. Let’s take the steps to make changes to this situation. Cheers 🦋

Feeling good about this copy of my site design.

Old Twitter thread of past years: https://x.com/cheshire137/status/793104972510527488

just put this thing on the react site footer. feel free to copy paste https://github.com/reactjs/react.dev/pull/7273/files#diff-2a2cd1638bf48008bde199a07d7c50ef698bd6f741a1fb786879ef8c6f0b4ca7

The new Google Assistant voice model struggles with place names. I found one that makes it hallucinate. Welsh speakers: I apologise for my pronunciation of Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch

This has left me wanting a Welsh Pokémon though. Pokemwn, perhaps

As someone who also tried to migrate to Mastodon as well, @patak.dev addresses many of the reasons I think Bluesky has a much better chance of sticking this time around. [contains quote post or other embedded content]

JavaScript is all you need? Microsoft has released a scripting language that allows you to make LLM-based scripts with simplified JavaScript. microsoft.github.io/genaiscript/ https://microsoft.github.io/genaiscript/

It's exciting to see so many folks from the tech community join this week. If we haven't met, I'm Geri 👋 I'm a designer working in design system and accessibility. I occasionally write nerdy stuff and speak at events. This is Arthur, my Frenchie, who looks even goofier on 3 legs.

Give me a gold star!!!! I finished the FULL FIRST DRAFT of the script for my next web comic!!! 30,000 words!!!!!!!! I could cry. I actually finished a story.

Thanks to the starter kit feature, not only is my social graph almost fully-healed over here, but I’ve found a bunch of new people I didn’t know before! Very exciting! Wave if you’ve never heard of me before!

Gists are such a good idea because the amount of code sample images without alt on twitter was grim

if i ever see you using bitwise math in javascript i will shoot you in the face with a bazooka unless you can explain why in detail with notes

One thing I noticed on Twitter was how my engagement had slowly been dropping in the last 6-months. I don't plan on cross-posting there anymore, but for one last one, earlier today I did one as a test to see. My audience there is 40x bigger... same engagement.

to be fair, you find everything to be easy to build from scratch

Apple have finally dropped the requirement for 5'5'' (iPhone 6, 7, 8) screenshots! 🎉 The only required screenshots are now 6'9'' (iPhone with the dynamic island). I'm so excited about never having to fake those tedious 5'5'' screenshots every again. https://www.figma.com/community/file/1352686667495694112/app-store-and-play-store-asset-requirements

Hello folks! I just realised I was added to a design system starter pack so I thought I’d share the work I did on the GOV.UK Design System (2017-2018). As a service designer, my focus was on the service aspects: contribution, assurance, support and community. https://ignaciaorellana.com/casestudies/designing-the-gov.uk-design-system-service/
