@charlespattson Usually not listening to music at the office, I like to be aware of co-workers discussing projects around me or wanting my attention. But at times it's the opposite, I put headphones/music on to drown out noisy co-workers. Loud stuff like metal, trance, Beastie Boys.

The fact that programmers continue to use 'magic' as a derogative for tools they're too lazy to understand boggles my mind. You really have to be an utter killjoy to decide 'yeah, magic, I hate that' when your job is literally to invent programs for computers to perform!

@dhh To me, “magic” is just an abstraction. So “it works by magic” just means that I can trust it to do its thing, and I can focus on building on top of it. If you’re mad at things being magic, then it seems you’re refusing to stand on the shoulders of giants.

@minimaxir It’s frustrating that candidates are asked #ComputerScience technical questions for #SoftwareEngineering positions. We should be asking about design, maintainability, team skills, testing communication ability, the basics of programming, etc... not algorithms or trick questions.
